From the Governor's School for the Arts website:
“The mission of the Governor's School for the Arts (GSA) is to create and maintain an educational environment for gifted students that maximizes the artistic talent of each individual and to promote arts in the community… From cities and suburbs, from farms and coal fields, from every corner of the Commonwealth, Kentucky’s most talented, creative high school students gather for three weeks each summer to learn and grow together in the GSA. Rising juniors and seniors in high school are offered in-depth instruction in one of nine artistic disciplines: architecture, creative writing, dance, drama, instrumental music, musical theater, new media, visual art or vocal music… During their three week stay on the beautiful campus of Transylvania University, the student artists are immersed in a rigorous schedule of daily seminars, master-classes, lectures, hands-on workshops and field trips…”
St. Michael’s is privileged to be the site of one of the annual GSA field trips! Please join our parish and the choir from GSA on Sunday, July 5 dirong the 10:00 PM service for a morning of beautiful music and worship.

The youth had a wonderful time at the Domain cleanup at last week's St. George Festival. Check out the pictures on Saint Michael's Youth Group Facebook page! Get information on upcoming youth events, join the group and share youth news and pictures.
Ken Davis, Policies & Procedures Chair
Policy and Procedures sounds like a pretty dull ministry area. However, having this documentation available, in a controlled and central location, can make the job of running the ministries of our Church much easier while enhancing efficiency. The Process and Procedures committee just kicked off an effort to review, update, and approve existing documents.
However, a lot of knowledge about our ministries is stored in the heads of the wonderful people of our Church. And as we pass ministry from person to person, there is no reason why the new person must reinvent those ministries from scratch.
We need the help of everyone who ministers on behalf of Saint Michael's. Take some time to document how you do your jobs. Please go to the Documents page to see details on how you can help document your ministries.
Mark Leaver, Outreach Chair
That's not backwards. I won't trot out one of those little sayings of Jesus that guilt us into trading TV time for helping others. Think of it more as a spiritual exercise; it may not be the first thing we would choose to do, but after it's over, don't we feel better for having done it?
I am trying to reach two groups of people.
- Firstly, if you currently head an outreach group, I may or may not know about you. Make sure I do.
- Secondly, if you feel this is where your ministry is calling you.nbsp; ...or if that sounds too heavy, how about "I'd like to help"?

Are you camara savvy? Do you like to share your perspective with others?
We are still in need of pictures to continue building our picture library for our different electronic publications (e.g. the newsletter, web site and other electronic and printed publications!)
If you need an excuse to bring your camara to more church functions, please take this as a hint and share your pictures with us!
Please turn off cell phones and pagers during worship services unless it is vitally important to leave them on vibrate. These devices interfere with our sound system, even when on vibrate mode.
Thank you for your cooperation!

- CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.
- A CSA is a way for the food buying public to join in a relationship with a local CSA farm by buying a share of its production before the growing season.
- During the growing season, the CSA farm distributes fresh weekly produce to members; the summer season is 20 to 24 weeks from May to October in most CSAs.
- Why participate in a CSA?
- High nutrition natural foods,
- Locally grown produce helps reduce global waste from factory farming and long-distance transport,
- Support for local farmers by sharing the risk and sharing the bounty,
- Organically certified food in most cases (check with the farmer),
- Connection to the seasonal rhythm of the natural foods in our area,
- Convenient local pickup times and locations,
- And much more ...
