We hope all adults will become involved in some form of Christian education as part of their spiritual formation. We offer a selection of Bible studies and classes on contemporary issues and practical Christianity on Sundays and weekdays.
Christian formation opportunities are also listed in “A Menu For Spiritual Health”, found in the track rack on side of the Christian Formation bulletin board in the Narthex. Be sure to visit the Christian Formation bulletin board in the Church Narthex for sign up sheets and literature or ask a Greeter for details and directions.
Sunday Morning Adult Classes
These classes meet during the 9:15 – 10:15 AM church school hour on Sunday mornings. Some classes are offered for only a few weeks; others meet regularly all year. You may start attending a class at any time.
Introduction to the Episcopal Church and Our Faith is a four week facilitated discussion on the faith we profess, the way we worship, and living our faith in the life of the Church. The class is offered every other month throughout the year and is a good forum to answer your questions.
Contemplative Studies: This group studies the writings of Thomas Merton and other authors who approach spirituality from the contemplative point of view. This group meets weekly for the entire year. Contact Joe McCauley for more information.
Lectionary Bible Study: This group meets at 9:15 Sunday mornings, while we have only the 8 and 10:30 services. We discuss the Bible readings for that Sunday’s services in terms of their context and their meaning for Episcopalians today.
Parents of Young Children: This group studies issues concerning raising young children in the Christian Faith. They meet in the undercroft library. Contact Melinda McClung for information.

Education for Ministry (EFM) is a structured, four-year course for those who want an in-depth theological education with a certified mentor. The academic material is substantial; the focus is on seeing one's life as ministry and reflecting on that ministry. Programs begin each fall.
Inquirer's Class is for adults interested in learning more about the Christian faith as expressed in the Episcopal Church. This course of study helps prepare those who wish to be confirmed, reaffirm baptismal vows, or be received from another communion. Inquirer's Classes are scheduled in advance of our annual Bishop's visit.
We encourage others to join us whenever they can. Participation requires no advance preparation other than a desire to understand the themes that form the likely basis for that Sunday’s sermon. We are currently meeting in the Chapter Room, with Clint Collins as the convener.
