Kentucky Refugee Ministries is a refugee resettlement agency with offices in Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky.  We are affiliated with two national, church based programs:  Church World Service and Episcopal Migration Ministries.  Kentucky Refugee Ministries is authorized by the U.S. State Department to assist refugees who have been legally admitted to the United States as victims of warfare or persecution.  They have been forced to flee from their home countries because of their ethnicity, politics or religion.

Our program began in Louisville in 1990, and the Lexington office opened in the summer of 1998.  We help refugees with basic services for their first three to six months in our community.

Refugees come to our country as victims of trauma, as people who have lost their homes and families because of war or civil unrest, and as people hoping for a life of peace and hope.  We are able to serve these refugees most successfully when we have the help and support of area churches and volunteers.  Refugees need help with initial housing, medical check-ups, and social service contacts.  Usually children are enrolled in school as quickly as possible and the adults are employed by the 120th day.

Kentucky Refugee Ministries needs the help and support of churches and volunteers.  Please call us if you wish to help or if you have any questions.
