For the last two decades, St. Michael’s has been a parish known for musical diversity.  Yet, within the varied fabric of many musical styles and expressions, one thread has remained constant:  commitment.  What you’ll discover in St. Michael’s Music Program is commitment to musical stewardship, commitment to our different choir families and commitment to a loving Lord, the Great Giver of all our musical gifts.

Under Ms. Ruth Witt, Director of Music, traditional Anglican repertoire, classic choral anthems and modern choral compositions that portray the beauty of excellent musical craftsmanship are very much alive at St. Michael’s.  We are also compelled to explore the musical variety the Episcopal Church offers, singing gospel music from Lift Every Voice and Sing and contemporary music from Wonder, Love and Praise.

Choir members train musically, liturgically and spiritually to serve as worship leaders within the parish.  A combined curriculum of vocal instruction, choir rehearsal, music theory, music history, lectionary study, Anglican Church history and in-depth study of the Book of Common Prayer is administered throughout the choir year.  The result for any choir members who fully commits to the program is an experience rich with musical beauty, artistic challenge and spiritual depth.

Caring Ministry is ministry by parishioners in which we reach out to others through prayer and presence.

The Saint Michael’s mission statement calls us “To reach out to the world, sharing freely from our blessings.”  We encourage each member to participate in these or other community projects.

Hospitality is a central aspect of lay ministry at St. Michael’s.  Breaking bread together is a mutual ministry in which all members of the parish can participate.  It is a way to celebrate in community, to support one another in times of grief, to share our gifts of food with one another, to meet and get to know one another better.

Parish-wide meals and parties are frequently featured in conjunction with various services and celebrations throughout the year.  Supper Groups are small groups that meet for a season to host simple meals in one another’s homes.  Parishioners contribute to the Sunday morning Coffee Hour by making coffee and bringing snacks every week.  In these and many other ways, we show hospitality to one another.

Affinity Programs may not at first look like “Ministry”.  We strive to find ministry in our everyday life.  This includes finding ways to support ministry in everyday activities.  These businesses support our ministry by donating a portion of their profit from their patron's purchases.  Please patronize the businesses and programs which aid our ministry.  You may already shop these stores.

Jesus brought the message that the Kingdom of Heaven is already here.  Our church is a place where we are building the Kingdom and making it more real.  Here we worship together, gather strength and wisdom and peace from each other, and take that strength and wisdom and peace out to share with the world.

We are now accepting financial pledges for the 2010 operation of St. Michael’s.  We are not setting a dollar amount for our campaign this year.  Instead, our goal is 100% member participation.  No pledge is too small.  Pledge what you feel you can reasonably fulfill.  If your financial situation changes you can update your pledge at that time.  Pledge cards are available in the Narthex or may be obtained from the church office.

Financial participation includes children.  Helping a child fulfill a small weekly pledge instills the idea that this is their church.  Children learn that St. Michael’s matters to them; and that children matter to St. Michael’s.  Habits learned early last a lifetime!

Our contributions of talent and money go directly to make the Kingdom of Heaven real.  Join us in sharing our blessings with the world through our St. Michael s family!

Communications ministry includes both traditional aural and printed media and Electronic Ministry.  Electronic Ministry is the ministry of providing electronic tools for facilitating ministry. This includes managing the web site, database, twitter, bulletin board, and other tools. It also includes providing the network and infrastructure for the parish and training parishioners and church leaders to use the tools.
