Kay Collier McLaughlin, PhD, Diocesan Deputy for Transition Ministries
The Episcopal Diocese of Lexington  -

Dear Friends at St. Michael’s,

Your hard–working Nominating Committee has turned another corner – and is in the process of analyzing the written answers to questions asked of candidates as a part of the mutual discernment between candidates and parish.  The next step will be telephone interviews.

St. Michael’s is the first parish in the Diocese of Lexington to design and use the new “Living Portfolio”—a handsome folder with a stunning St. Michael’s photo superimposed on the cover, it’s pockets filled with information about the parish and the community—including a most attractive professionally designed brochure and a DVD.  A sample of the Living Portfolio accompanied me to the meeting of Province IV Transition Officers in St. Petersburg where it received rave reviews – and I expect the same from candidates.

In addition, we have received many inquiries at the Transition Office from clergy who have been surfing the web and come upon the St. Michael’s web page.  It is a real favorite – attracting people who feel they really get a sense of the parish by visiting it.

It may be vacation time by the calendar, but for your committee, the work intensifies as they begin trying to coordinate schedules for site visits, and local visits.  Please keep them and the candidates in your prayers, that this time of discernment may be a holy time for all.

Faithfully,

Kay Collier McLaughlin, PhD
Deputy for Leadership Development/Transition Officer and Consultant
