St. Michael's Stewardship

On This Page:
David Weatherly, Stewardship Chair

Jesus brought the message that the Kingdom of Heaven is already here.  Our church is a place where we are building the Kingdom and making it more real.  Here we worship together, gather strength and wisdom and peace from each other, and take that strength and wisdom and peace out to share with the world.

We are now accepting financial pledges for the 2009 operation of St. Michael's.  We are not setting a dollar amount for our campaign this year.  Instead, our goal is 100% member participation.  No pledge is too small.  Pledge what you feel you can reasonably fulfill.  If your financial situation changes you can update your pledge at that time.  Pledge cards are available in the Narthex or may be obtained from the church office.

Financial participation includes children.  Helping a child fulfill a small weekly pledge instills the idea that this is their church.  Children learn that St. Michael’s matters to them; and that children matter to St. Michael’s.  Habits learned early last a lifetime!

Our contributions of talent and money go directly to make the Kingdom of Heaven real.  Join us in sharing our blessings with the world through our St. Michael s family!

Offering Envelopes are a convenient reminder of our commitments to tithe and make offerings to our church.

Envelopes can also be a fun and exciting learning aid to help children develop their stewardship habits.

This origami envelope project is easy enough that even elementary aged children may be able to complete it unassisted after the first one or two they make.  Younger children may need a bit more help.  Tape is usually not required, but may be necessary for coin offerings.  Have Fun!  (Adobe Reader or other PDF interface is required.)

Earth Ministry

Beate Popkin, Earth Ministry Chair

Earth Ministries LogoSaint Michael’s Earth Ministry Group was founded in the spring of 2008. Its members intend to reduce our church’s carbon footprint and to bring good environmental practices to the life of our congregation. We believe that we are called to be dedicated stewards of God’s creation. Following this call we work to intentionally develop habits that minimize waste and help sustain the lives of all people on earth, present and future. Environmental stewardship is fundamental to our relationship with God, and impacts all ministries of our church.

  • CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.
  • A CSA is a way for the food buying public to join in a relationship with a local CSA farm by buying a share of its production before the growing season.
  • During the growing season, the CSA farm distributes fresh weekly produce to members; the summer season is 20 to 24 weeks from May to October in most CSAs.
  • Why participate in a CSA?
    • High nutrition natural foods,
    • Locally grown produce helps reduce global waste from factory farming and long-distance transport,
    • Support for local farmers by sharing the risk and sharing the bounty,
    • Organically certified food in most cases (check with the farmer),
    • Connection to the seasonal rhythm of the natural foods in our area,
    • Convenient local pickup times and locations,
    • And much more ...
