Faith Formation at Home
During this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, we as a faith community are not able to gather for in-person worship and formation. We are, however, still able to gather with each other online, with God in private study and prayer, and, when reasonably safe, in small groups to learn and live our faith.  Information on this page includes resources on how to practice your faith at home, information on our current online classes, and guides for study and prayer at home.

Epiphany at Home

We invite you to join us in the season of Epiphany with at-home Bible study and activities that strengthen us in our journey with Christ.

The Good Book Club reads Mark offers a daily reading guide for the Gospel of Mark, as well as a summary of the Gospel. You can sign up for daily emails and download the readings here.

Six Recognitions of The Lord  is our Sunday evening Zoom gathering at 5:30 pm. During the season of Epiphany, a season of manifestation and recognition of Jesus and the change he brings to us, we will reflect on this Mary Oliver poem of 6 stanzas, each one inviting us to see how Jesus is manifested in our prayers and in the world around us. Contact the Church Office for a Zoom link or check This Weekend at St. Michael's.

Illustrated Ministry provides weekly resources, including a Bible story, coloring pages, and creative activities for children, youth and adults for each Sunday. Check This Weekend at St. Michael's or click here for the most recent Sunday activity pages.

Faith at Home - Engaging with the Bible

Forward Movement and Forma, two organizations of The Episcopal Church, offer the Faith @ Home website with weekly and daily reflections on scripture to deepen our faith. Faith @ Home can be accessed here.

Faith Inkubators offers a five-step faith practice that can be incorporated into your household's routine to have prayer time each day. The format is:
  • Share your highs and lows
  • Read a Bible verse or story
  • Talk about how the Bible reading might relate to your highs and lows
  • Pray for one another's highs and lows
  • Bless one another
For more instruction and videos on how to incorporate this practice access the Faith Inkubators site here.

Praying with Lectio Divina (Divine Reading) is a contemplative practice of reading scripture, meditation, and prayer. This practice has four steps:
  • Read the scripture four times and after each time offer a word or phrase that reaches out or touches the hearer
  • Meditate on the word or phrase for sever minutes in silence
  • Pray
  • Contemplate
Through this practice the participants are invited to "enter" into the scripture reading with Christ in order to grow in knowledge and wisdom through the scriptures. For more instruction on how to do Lectio Divina, the Building Faith website has a how-to article here.
Continue Community
While we rejoice in our time together during worship and other activities, we know that spiritual life is not confined to our beautiful building.  We also gather online, using social media to stay connected.
