Digital Minister Position

St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Lexington, Kentucky seeks to create a community in which all are welcome whether individuals join us for worship in-person or online. The Digital Minister of St. Michaels is a new position. Persons applying for the position may be lay or ordained. They do not have to be an Episcopalian or member of a faith community. The person is called to develop and maintain effective online communications, including working with our Digital Evangelism Team as needed and with other staff and members to support the needs of worshippers, both in-person and online.

Skills:
- Ability to develop and maintain an engaging online/social media presence and following.
- Ability to develop and maintain ongoing digital communications (e.g., weekly email newsletters to members of the parish community).
- Ability to develop and maintain a website that is current, engaging, and informative for both members and seekers.
- Demonstrated creativity and innovative approach to digital ministry.
- Demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely to engage people on digital platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to do work in a timely manner.
- Capacity to develop familiarity with The Episcopal Church, St. Michael’s, and the software and apps used for digital ministry.
Job Functions within St. Michael’s:
- Meet regularly with the Rector, Senior Warden, and/or vestry members to discuss the digital ministry needs of the parish (in-person or online, as needed).
- Prepare and disseminate routine digital communications (e.g., two weekly email newsletters).
- Maintain St. Michael’s social media presence on Facebook (e.g., preparing posts, moderating comments), Instagram, Twitter and other social media sites as determined.
- Regularly update and maintain the St. Michael’s website.
- Invite parish members to participate in digital programming, when appropriate.
- Collaborate with the Digital Ministry Team, which is the team of volunteers who ensure that our worship services (e.g., Sunday at 10:30am, other major holiday services) are live-streamed via Facebook and YouTube.
- Be present on Sunday morning (virtually) to support the live-streaming worship services.
- Flexibility with schedules, particularly during Advent/Christmas and Holy Week/Easter.
- The position is budgeted for 8-10 hours per week at $15.00 per hour, with all required taxes deducted.
